Maca is an ancient, Peruvian superfood, and a superstar among the estrogen boosting, fertility enhancing foods for both men and women.
Known to balance hormones, increase stamina and even lift our mood, it’s a great source of iron, potassium, B6, Manganese and other essential nutrients,. It has a long history of medicinal use in Peru and has been gaining in popularity as a fertility superfood.
The edible part of the maca plant is the root, which is dried and consumed in powder form.
If you haven’t used it before, I’d start slowly with a tsp of the powder and depending on how you feel, how you metabolize it, you can work up to a tbsp a day.
You can have lots of fun experimenting with maca. Add to green smoothies or nut milk/nut butter smoothies, blend it or simply mix it into your favorite hot or cold beverage. I love the nutty, malty flavor, if for you it doesn’t hit the spot, mashing it into a banana will do the trick.
